職場人士天天忙著管理主管、部屬、同儕、同業、供應商、顧客等,卻忘了管理自己。難怪彼得‧杜拉克(Peter Drucker)會說:「有偉大成就的人,向來都善於自我管理」;查爾斯‧韓第( Charles Handy)則有此一問:「你拿什麼定義自己?」對自己最起碼的負責就是對周遭的人最崇高的尊重。
管理自己之前,要先把「成功」定義清楚,然後再進行自我管理的三部曲—知道自己(Know Yourself)、做你自己(Be Yourself)、管理自己(Manage Yourself)。 很多人一輩子都活在父母的期望中,過著由別人定義的所謂成功人生;在別人的發號施令下,連自己都無法決定向左走或向右走。「成功」應該是從事有意義的工作去影響多少人、 幫助多少人? 而不是世俗所謂的賺了多少錢、擁有多高的頭銜? 如果能自己把成功的意義界定清楚,然後朝自己設定的目標努力,時時充實工作能力及累積工作經驗,提升附加價值,較容易邁向成功之路。 要「知道自己」最好的方法就是做SWOT分析,先充分釐清自己的強項(Strength)與弱項(Weakness),掌握職場中的機會(Opportunity)與威脅(Threat),再擬定應對進退的策略,就可找回事業發球權,勇敢去追夢,提早做自己的主人。 一個人在職場上,除了會做事和做人外,還要會「做你自己」。百度的李彥宏專做自己喜歡且擅長的事。很多專家學者都勸大家要打開周哈里窗(Johari window)說亮話!最好把隱藏我、盲目我、未知我統統都變成公開我。也就是說沒有什麼不能說的話或見不得人的事;或將威靈頓斗櫃(Wellington chest)兩個上鎖的抽屜撬開,別人不知的內容或自己的下意識都可攤在陽光下。其實就是主張「誠實面對自己,不要裝做不是自己」的意思。 任何人都要為自己負責,不把爛攤子丟給別人,要有快樂的能力;不自艾自怨,要照顧好自己的身心靈,不要別人為你擔心。廣告才子孫大偉的朋友在他的紀念本留下這樣一段話:「謝謝你把自己活得那麼精采 。因為你,我看到廣告界的美好和希望…」。 在1和0的數位科技裡,於on 和Off的理想生活中,如何取得工作與生活的平衡是一門顯學。清楚寫下人生目標,規劃詳細的行動方案,一生只做符合目標的行為,這就是所有成功者贏的秘訣。 有人以順口溜描繪百歲人生:「1歲出場亮相、10歲天天向上、20歲遠大理想、30歲基本定向、40歲處處吃香、50歲奮發圖強、60歲告老還鄉、70歲打打麻將、80歲曬曬太陽、90歲躺在床上、100歲掛在牆上」。 成功的人專做失敗者不願做的事,謹記:「自己就是最大的敵人 」。「管理自己」應是溫拿(Winner)或魯蛇(Loser)的關鍵所在吧!
